Does My Estonian Company Contribute to Social Security or a Pension Plan?

If you are not a tax resident in Estonia, your salary does not contribute to your pension. This means that you will not be able to benefit from retirement in the future. If you need it, you should look for a private pension plan.

Regarding social security, if you pay the minimum social security fee for your salary as an administrator (board member salary), you are entitled to health insurance coverage in Estonia. This would give you access to public health care and you would receive health care in Estonia.

There is no clear jurisdiction on whether you can choose to apply for the European health card. If you are interested, it is better to ask and explain your situation to the Estonian tax authorities.
When hiring employees in other countries outside of Estonia, including the shareholders or members of the board of the company, you must be careful to observe certain legal aspects.

Sometimes, such as when hiring employees in Europe (and other countries), your Estonian company may need to pay social security or some kind of social taxes for those employees.

You can find more information about this in this article.
