How To Get Proper VAT Invoices From Google One

Google One is a cloud storage subscription service by Google. While it’s convenient, especially for Android users, obtaining VAT-compliant invoices from Google can be tricky. In this guide, we explain how to ensure your Google One invoices are issued correctly so you can upload them to Companio and deduct your subscription expenses for your business.

Invoices for Personal Use vs. Business Use

For your Google One subscription to be tax-deductible, the invoices must be issued to your business, not to you personally. By default, Google issues invoices in your name as an individual, which are not deductible and will be classified as “Non-business expenses” in our accounting platform.

So, how can you get VAT-compliant invoices for your business?

Step 1: Update Payment and Billing Settings

Go to Google Payment Settings and click on "Settings" at the top.
In the Billing Information section:
- Choose Estonia as your country.
- Select Organization as your account type.
- Enter your business address and optional details like your phone number and name.

If your company is VAT liable, go to the "Estonia tax info" section and click on "Manage tax info".
Click "Update tax info" and enter your VAT number. This ensures that VAT is deducted correctly on Google’s invoices.

Once you've completed these steps, your updated tax information will appear in your billing profile.

What if you still receive personal invoices?

If, even after updating your billing information, invoices are still issued in your personal name, you can try requesting a VAT-compliant invoice from Google directly. Here’s a helpful guide from Google on how to request VAT invoices.

If you’re still facing issues, we recommend reaching out to Google Support for further assistance.
