What Is a Power of Attorney (PoA) and Why Does Companio Need It?
A Power of Attorney (PoA) is a legal authorization that allows Companio to act on behalf of your company for specific administrative and accounting tasks.
It does not grant Companio control over your finances, company ownership, or decision-making — it only gives us permission to represent your company before government institutions for accounting, tax, and compliance purposes.
This authorization is standard and required for all Companio clients, regardless of the country where the company is registered.
Why Companio Needs a PoA
Companio uses the Power of Attorney to handle mandatory filings, accounting submissions, and official communications with local authorities in your company’s country of registration.
It allows us to:
- Submit monthly and annual accounting reports.
- File tax declarations and compliance forms.
- Communicate directly with the tax office or registry when needed.
Without a valid PoA, Companio cannot legally perform these actions on your behalf, and your company’s compliance could be delayed or interrupted.
In Which Countries Is the PoA Required?
The Power of Attorney is required in all jurisdictions where Companio operates:
- Estonia:
The PoA authorizes Companio to manage accounting and submit tax and compliance reports. It’s granted digitally through your e-Residency card once your company is registered.
- Bulgaria:
The PoA is also required and is issued through Notarity, an online notarization platform used to validate and sign the authorization document remotely.
- Ireland:
As in Bulgaria, the PoA is granted through Notarity, ensuring full legal validity under Irish regulations. It enables Companio to handle your company’s tax and accounting filings with the Irish Revenue and Companies Registration Office (CRO).
What the PoA Does Not Allow
The Power of Attorney given to Companio is limited and specific.
It does not allow Companio to:
- Access or move funds from your company bank accounts.
- Make business or management decisions for your company.
- Sign contracts or commercial agreements on your behalf.
It is used strictly for administrative and compliance purposes — ensuring your company remains fully compliant with local tax and reporting regulations.
