How to Connect Interactive Brokers to Companio Using Your Token and Query ID

To connect your Interactive Brokers (IBKR) account to the Companio dashboard, you’ll need a Token and Query ID from your Interactive Brokers Client Portal.
These credentials allow Companio to access the information required to keep your Interactive Brokers account connected for accounting purposes.

How to Get Your Token and Query ID

  1. Log in to your Interactive Brokers Client Portal.
  2. Open the menu and go to:

Reporting → Third-Party Reports → Third-Party Services

  1. Find and enable the third-party service required for your Companio connection.
  2. Once enabled, Interactive Brokers will generate and display:
    • Token
    • Query ID
  3. Copy and save both credentials.
  4. Return to the Companio dashboard and enter the Token and Query ID when connecting your Interactive Brokers account.

Your Interactive Brokers account can then be connected to Companio using these credentials.

Can Your Token or Query ID Expire?

Your Token and Query ID may stop working over time or after certain changes to your Interactive Brokers account.

Token

Your Token may expire or become invalid. This can happen if:

  • You manually generate a new Token. The previous Token will stop working immediately.
  • Your account remains inactive for an extended period.
  • Interactive Brokers performs a security reset on your account.
  • You change your password or other security settings.

Query ID

A Query ID does not normally expire on its own. However, it may stop working if:

  • The associated Flex Query is deleted or significantly modified.
  • A new Token is generated and the connection needs to be configured again.
  • The access level or permissions of your Interactive Brokers account change.

What to Do If Your Interactive Brokers Account Disconnects

If your Interactive Brokers connection in Companio stops working after any of the changes above, you will need to reconnect it.
Obtain your current Token and Query ID from Interactive Brokers and use them to reconnect your account in the Companio dashboard.
Always use your latest valid credentials when reconnecting the account.
