How Can I Obtain an EORI Number?
An EORI number, which stands for Economic Operators Registration and Identification number, is necessary for individuals and companies operating within the European Union (EU) and engaging in customs-related activities or import/export operations.
In most cases, digital businesses won't require an EORI number if they don't directly handle physical goods.
For instance, if you run an Amazon FBA or dropshipping business, you typically won't need this number because an external provider manages product shipments to customers, not you.
However, if any of your suppliers or the tax or customs office in any country requests it, obtaining an EORI number online is a straightforward process.
Step 1: Visit the Estonian Tax and Customs Board website and log in using your e-Residency card or Smart-ID.
Step 2: Navigate to "Other e-MTA Services."
Step 3: Find your company name or search for it in the field above. Click on your company's name to access its options.
Step 4: Once there, select "Customs" from the left menu (represented by a truck icon).
Step 5: Scroll down until you see "Economic Operators Registration and Identification Number (EORI)." Click on it. You can also find this option in the search field at the top of the page.
Step 6: Click on "New application."
Step 7: Verify that your company's information is accurate and complete any missing fields. Choose "Yes" in the "Do you agree to your disclosure?" field to make your EORI number publicly visible on the European website for transparency.
Step 8: Scroll down and click the green "I present" button.
Your application will be processed, and you will receive updates from the Estonian Tax and Customs Board.
