How do I connect my Binance account to Companio?
You can connect Binance to Companio in about five minutes with a read-only API key. Companio uses it to import your balances and transaction history. It cannot place trades or move funds.
The process has two parts: first you create the API key in Binance, then you add it in Companio.
Part 1: Create a read-only API key in Binance
Step 1: Log in to Binance
Go to binance.com and click Log In in the top-right corner.

Step 2: Enter your credentials
Enter your email or phone number and complete the sign-in. You can also use a passkey, Google, Apple or Telegram.

Step 3: Open the account menu
Once logged in, click the Account icon (the yellow person icon) in the top-right corner.

Step 4: Go to your Account page
In the menu that opens, click Account.

Step 5: Open API Management
In the left sidebar, under Account, click API Management.

Step 6: Create the API key
Choose one of the two options below. Both give Companio the read-only access it needs.
- Option 6.1: Create Tax Report API (easiest)
- Click Create Tax Report API. This key type is read-only by default, so there are no permissions to set.

- Copy the API Key and the Secret Key and keep them somewhere safe for Part 2. Check that only Enable Readingis ticked.
- Complete Binance's security verification if prompted.

Binance allows only one Tax Report API per account. If you already have one and no longer have its Secret Key, use Option 6.2 instead.
- Option 6.2: Create a standard API key
- Click Create API.

- Select System generated and click Next. Do not choose Self-generated: Companio needs the Secret Key that only System generated provides.

- Enter a label you will recognise, for example "Companio", and click Next.

- Complete Binance's security verification if prompted.
- Under API restrictions, make sure only Enable Reading is ticked. Leave trading, transfers and withdrawals unticked.
- Copy the API Key and the Secret Key and keep them somewhere safe for Part 2.
Leave IP access restrictions on Unrestricted. Binance shows a warning, but read-only keys are kept active. Binance deletes unrestricted keys only when a permission other than Reading is enabled.
Part 2: Connect Binance to the Companio Dashboard
- In your Companio dashboard, go to Financials → Banks.
- Click Connect existing account (or go to the bank connection page).
- On the Connect your bank accounts page, click the Others tab.
- Select the Binance card. It shows a blue dot when selected.
- In the Connect your Binance account window, fill in the three fields:
- API Key: paste the API Key you copied from Binance.
- API Secret: paste the Secret Key you copied from Binance.
- Account Name: enter a name to identify this account on your dashboard, for example "Binance main".
- Click Link.
- A loading screen shows "Linking your account". Wait until it finishes, which can take a couple of minutes. Don't close or reload the page.
- When it's done, your Binance account appears as a connected bank on your dashboard.
Good to know
How long until my transactions appear? Historical transactions can take 24 to 48 hours to appear after you connect.
Do I need to reconnect later? No. Read-only Binance API keys don't expire, so the connection keeps working.
Can Companio trade or withdraw from my account? No. The key only has the Reading permission, so Companio can view your data but cannot place orders or move funds.
I lost my Secret Key. What now? Binance won't show it again. Delete the key in API Management, create a new one using the steps above, and update the connection in Companio.
